Adding a Recording to a Module or Page
Recordings made with Panopto in a Canvas course appear under the Panopto Video link in the course menu. There, students can view all course recordings in one place.
A recording can also be placed in a relevant location within the course content, such as in a module for a specific week or on a course page. This can be more efficient and more user-friendly. Both methods are explained below.
Add a Recording to a Module
- Click the + icon for the module.

- Select External Tool from the dropdown menu at the top of the window.

Choose **External Tool** from the menu at the top of the window. - Click Panopto in the list of tools.
- Select the recording and click Insert.
- Click Add Item.
- Publish the recording for students.

Add a Recording to a Page
When a recording is added to a page, it is possible to include text to explain the content or add other related material.
Create the Page
- Click the + icon for the module.

- Select Page from the dropdown menu at the top of the window.
- Click [New Page] at the bottom of the window.
- Enter a page title in the field for the page title.
- Click Add Item.
Insert the Recording into the Page
- Click the page to open it.
- Click Edit in the top right corner of the page.
- Click the plug icon in the Rich Content Editor, View All, and select Panopto in the list..

The plug icon can be hidden under the three-dot menu at the far right. Once Panopto is selected, the icon appears in the editor. - Click Panopto in the list.
- Select the recording and click Insert. The recording appears in the editor.
- Click Save or Save & Publish.
