Transferring Final Grades to Ugla

1. Transfer Final Grades from Canvas to Ugla – or Enter Them Manually in Ugla

  1. Sign in to Ugla.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click My Ugla.
  3. Click My Courses.
  4. Find the relevant course and click the icon on the right to enter final grades.
    enter final grades icon

There are three ways to enter final grades. Choose the method that best fits your situation:

  • Import grades from an Excel file
  • Download from Canvas
  • Enter a grade manually for each student

After grades are imported or entered manually, they are automatically saved in a draft table.

Combined courses

When courses have been combined in Canvas, grades must be entered separately for each course. Students in combined courses are not all listed under the primary course in Ugla, as they are in Canvas.

Go to My Ugla > My Courses as described above.

Important notes

  • If you choose Download from Canvas, make sure the Canvas gradebook has been prepared correctly. Otherwise, an error may occur in Ugla when you try to transfer the final grades.
  • Why is “Download from Canvas” not visible?
If the option to fetch final grades from Canvas does not appear in Ugla, the course is set to display grades under exam numbers. This setting must be changed before final grades can be fetched from Canvas. See: Show names instead of exam numbers in Ugla. This does not apply to Inspera.

2. Review the Grades

Review the grades in the draft table and make corrections if needed. This can be done by selecting a different grade or another option next to the student’s name, for example:

  • Passed without a grade
  • Failed without a grade
  • Absent

See also the rules for the four options available when recording final grades in Ugla.

3. Publish the Grades

After grades are entered, they are automatically saved in the draft table. They must be published before students can see them and before they are transferred to the student records system. Since the grades remain saved in the draft table, the teacher can return later to review them, make changes if needed, and publish them when ready.

  1. Click Publish Grades.

If a student’s grade needs to be changed after it has been published in Ugla, the teacher must submit a request for the change to the relevant department, school office, or Student Registration Office.
