Anonymous Instructor Annotations

Anonymous instructor annotations hide instructor names from students in comments added directly to student submissions in SpeedGrader DocViewer. This can be useful when more than one teacher or grader reviews an assignment and students should not see who wrote each comment. Note that general comments in the SpeedGrader sidebar will not be anonymous.

It is best to enable this setting in the assignment before students begin submitting. If comments have already been added before the setting is enabled, they will remain named; existing comments cannot be anonymized afterwards.

How to enable anonymous annotations in the course

Anonymous annotations must first be enabled in the course settings.

  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the course navigation menu.

  2. Select the Feature Options tab near the top of the page.
