At this time of year, instructors often need assistance with finalising grades and preparing courses for the upcoming semester. Below are instructions for reviewing the Gradebook, submitting final grades and copying course content.
Finalising Grades and Submitting Final Grades
1. Assignment weights and point values
To ensure that the final grade calculates correctly, please check the following:
The points possible for each assignment must match the scale used when entering grades. If grades are entered on a 0–10 scale, the assignment must be worth 10 points.
Assignment groups must be set up, weighting enabled, and each group assigned the appropriate weight.
Instructions: Assignment weights and point values
2. Preparing the Gradebook and submitting final grades to Ugla
A correctly configured Gradebook ensures that student grades calculate accurately and that final grades can be transferred from Canvas to Ugla. This includes:
All grades must be posted to students.
Every grade cell must contain a value: a grade, a zero, or an excused status (for assignments that count toward the final grade).
The only exception is when an assignment is assigned to specific students only; in that case, grade cells for other students are automatically inactive and empty. The Gradebook then treats those students as excused from that assignment in its calculations.

3. Gradebook checklist
This checklist is useful when reviewing the Gradebook.

Copying Course Content Between Courses
Canvas offers two different methods for copying/migrating content between courses.
1. Importing content into a new course
The Import Existing Content option on the right-hand side of the course homepage allows you to copy all content from another course at once (including announcements) or to select specific items.
This action must be performed in the course that will receive the content (the new course).
Content transfer may take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, depending on system load.
If you run the import again, the content will be copied a second time and duplicated in the course.
You can monitor the progress of the content transfer in the same location (see screenshot).

2. Copying individual items from an older course
The Copy To… option is useful when only a few items need to be moved, such as an assignment, a file, a module, or a page.
This option is located in the menu (represented by three dots) next to each item in the course. The item is then copied and sent to the selected course.
As expected, this action must be performed in the course that contains the original item.
