The Files link in course navigation opens the course file area, where teachers can upload, store, organize, and manage files. Files uploaded in the Rich Content Editor or in modules are automatically stored there. The file area has 4.2 GB of storage.

Students usually access files through links in modules, pages, or other course content. If the Files link is enabled in course navigation, students can also view published files there.

To keep the file area organized, it is best to upload files there first and sort them into folders before sharing them with students. Files uploaded directly through modules or the editor are stored in the root folder, which can quickly become difficult to manage.

Note: Recordings should be shared through Panopto or Canvas Studio, not stored in Files.
